OPPO India has announced the beginning of the "Vihaan" Project, in which the company would invest US$ 60 million over the course of the following five years.
This project aims to boost the local supply chain for a strong smartphone ecosystem in India by empowering MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) to expand their operations.
India's export capacity would improve by USD 5 billion as a result of this project, according to OPPO, over the following five years.
In keeping with the government's goal of creating a "Aatmanirbhar Bharat," OPPO India will actively promote local manufacture, exports, SMEs and MSMEs, cutting-edge technology, and skill development in the sector through the "Vihaan" initiative.
OPPO India Vihaan Project
Through this effort, OPPO India hopes to enhance the local supply chain for a strong smartphone ecosystem in India by collaborating with additional regional vendors.
Additionally, OPPO asserts that it would concentrate on launching the development of next-generation technologies like AI, 5G, etc. over the course of the next five years in order to speed up the product development process in India.
Through the Vihaan Project, the local supply chain will be strengthened, reducing the need to import more expensive components from China.
A new research study claims that OPPO India has already made large investments to enhance the country's manufacturing capabilities, positioning the company as the leader in "Make in India" smartphone shipments with a 22% year-over-year rise in Q1 2022.
Mr. Vivek Vasishtha (Vice-President of Public Affairs of OPPO India), commented on the Vihaan Project as follows:
The Indian government's forward-thinking, business-friendly policies have produced an enabling climate that fosters and supports innovation, igniting the electronics manufacturing sector.
Now that a strong local supply chain is starting to emerge, it is time to encourage the export of our high-quality "Make in India" smartphones to targeted markets.
This will make it easier for OPPO India to increase its export capacity over the following five years to $5 billion. Through the "Vihaan" program, OPPO India will actively encourage local manufacturing & exports, SMEs and MSMEs, cutting-edge technology, and skill development in the industry, all in line with the government's vision of a "Aatmanirbhar Bharat."
