The amazing and popular Redmi Note 8 Pro has been running the latest MIUI 11 for a quite a while now, and yet everywhere across the world except China it’s still running on Android 9 Pie.
An update to Android 10 has been in the works for several months for global Redmi Note 8 Pro models, but for some reason has taken this long to start rolling out.
For now, a new update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro bringing Android 10 is only going out in Pakistan, surprisingly.
As of now, it is totally unclear about how long it will take for us to see it in other markets.
This update is named MIUI 11 v.22.214.171.124.QGGEUXM, which arrives over-the-air having a size of 1.9GB. Overall, it increases system security and a localized payment security icon for India, as per the change-log which we have gone through.
First, “EU” in the build version implies that this is an update for the Europe-bound global models, and yet it reached Pakistan.
Second, the localized security icon for India surely would have made more sense to be found in an India-specific ROM for the device. We are still wondering about this.
That aside, let us hope that Xiaomi gets its software update act together and releases this globally as soon as possible.
