Xiaomi has been very occupied for the few months as it was getting set to prepare for the next big launch in the Indian market – the Redmi K20 series.
The launch of the Redmi K20 happens to be a very big move for Xiaomi in India as it is trying to scale up the reputation of the company as a premium smartphone manufacturer while at the same time catering to everyone’s needs.
These phones will offer its users flagship class performance that will be fused into premium designs but at affordable rates for all. All those of you who are looking for a phone around the Rs.20,000/- mark, the Redmi K20 phones could be the best option ever.
However, Xiaomi phones have always been known to use the heavily customised MIUI OS but there are several users that prefer a stock Android interface for a clean experience.
Xiaomi tries to meet their needs with its Mi A series of phones, and the most recent one is due for an upgrade since it is almost a year old now.
With the launch of the Redmi K20 that has come in the spotlight now, the Mi A3 could be delayed. We feel it should come sometime soon though and will be based in the upcoming Mi CC9 in China.
Here are the reasons why.
Xiaomi Mi A3: What will this Android One phone offer
The Mi A series phones are known to be based on the Mi X series phones from China, the Mi A2 is based on the Mi 6X.
The Mi 8X or a Mi 9X. have not been seen this year. Xiaomi has come up with a new series called the CC and the first phone will be the upcoming CC9.
This looks to be the new premium mid-range phone in Xiaomi’s collection. The CC9 will be based on the Mi 9. The Mi CC9 could form the underpinnings of the Mi A3.
Teasers of the Mi CC9 have revealed only the back, and there is confirmation that there will be a triple camera setup. As far as the primary camera goes it will have a 48-megapixel sensor most probably the Sony IMX586 whereas a 32-megapixel camera will be there at the front.
The Mi A series phones in India are known for their superior camera performance. A potent camera set up such as this indicates that this will be the Mi A3.
It is possible that the triple cameras could also include a secondary wide-angle camera and a third telephoto camera. The set up will then be similar to the Redmi K20.
Mi A series phones are great phones that have premium class performance with powerful chipsets. It is believed that The Mi CC9 will have a Snapdragon 730 chipset – the same chip used in the Redmi K20.
The Snapdragon 730 will be the successor to the Snapdragon 660, that finds itself used in the Mi A2. Mi A3 may make use of the Snapdragon 730 chipset to offer flagship class performance.
There will be three variants in the Mi CC9. The base variant will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The second variant could have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage whereas as far as the top-end variant goes it could feature 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
In India, the Mi A3 could most probably exclude the top-end variant and come with a maximum of 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The Mi CC9 didn’t show any fingerprint sensor at the back in the render that was released. It could only mean that the device could feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Mi CC9 could also feature an AMOLED display that is very similar to the one found on the Mi 9. As far as the display goes, if it is based on the Mi 9’s display, then it will feature a water-drop notch on the top.
If Xiaomi wishes to go one step ahead then they may offer a hole-punch cutout for the camera on top of the display. We can then expect the same to be seen in the Mi A3.
One issue faced by Mi A2 is the sub-par battery life. It has been rumoured that the Mi CC9 will have a 3,940mAh battery which should help in improving the battery life.
MIUI optimizes resources to extract better battery life very well but we need to see how Xiaomi will manage to optimize stock Android 9 Pie for the same.
Xiaomi Mi A3: When could it launch in India?
The Mi A2 will have to wait for a few more months as right now Xiaomi is currently focusing on the Redmi K20 series in India.
The launch of the Redmi K20 is expected to be in July. Taking this into consideration, Mi A3 launch could happen sometime in September.
The Redmi K20 will then have enough breathing space before the Mi A3 arrives. The Mi A1 was launched in September 2017, Xiaomi may decide to go with the same date this time as well with the Mi A3.
Xiaomi Mi A3: Price?
The Redmi K20 is expected to start from around Rs.18,000/- in India. Mi A3 could be offered at a starting price of Rs.16,999/- which will around the same launch price of the Mi A2 last year.
At this price range the Mi A3 will be comfortably placed between the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi K20 in India. This arrangement won’t affect the sales of both.
