Harry Potter: Wizards Unite available in India on Android

The much desired augmented reality game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has made its way officially to India. It is available as a free download on Android.

This latest AR project from Niantic was under making for quite a while. After the roll-out of betas in Australia and New Zealand, it was first launched in the US and the UK in a stable form.

This game has now been launched in countries and Niantic desires to create the same scenes that took over across the world with its previous mobile AR, Pokemon Go. This is still a craze till date.

Other than India, the game has been rolled out in Austria, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Niantic is now well placed with this game in most major app consumer markets across Europe and Asia. The roll-out has been done in a phased manner to possibly reduce the server loads to prevent down times since a lot of people are joining the game.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite showcases a magical world augmented on real-world maps, players can then explore so that they can find traces of magic left all around the real world.

The game uses a few cues from characters and incidents in the real Harry Potter story; it may also offer gamers a type of cooperative game-play where users will be able to interact with each other in the game’s virtual world.

It was speculated that Harry Potter creator JK Rowling would be involved in this game, however, it has been confirmed that the author has not been involved in any process of the game.

It is to be seen if Harry Potter: Wizards Unite can create the same craze scenario to match the level of Pokemon Go.

While Pokemon Go had an engaging gameplay, the story-line of Harry Potter may be found more attractive. You can download this game in India from the Google Play Store on Android.
