As per news from a tweet posted by Xiaomi, the Redmi K20 is all set to launch as the “Xiaomi Mi 9T” in a few markets. An interesting observation is the location. It is shared by a tech reviewer from Dubai
The K20 will come to be called as either the “Redmi K20”, “Mi 9T” or “Pocophone F2” all depending on where it is out for sale. In the Chinese market it will be called K20. In Dubai and the rest of the EMEA regions it will be known as Mi 9T.
Having said all this the Redmi K20 Pro will be launched as the “Mi 9T Pro” and “Pocophone F2 Pro” in areas outside China.
However, there is no assurance that both vanilla and Pro models will be up for sale in these regions. The main differences between the two are the Pro comes with a a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 27W fast charging, the regular Redmi K20 comes with a Snapdragon 730 and 18W charging.
It is important to note the “Carbon Black” cover, the K20 phones come only in red and blue editions and a carbon fibre special edition. Hence, the Xiaomi Mi 9T and perhaps the Poco F2 will have on offer a different range of colours.
You can also notice that it comes with a 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The K20 also comes in versions with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage, but these specs may change as per locations and the name may not be consistent as well.
The company has also given us a sneak peek of its new Mi 9-series phone which through a render shows a triple rear camera setup and a pop-up selfie camera. The render could be linked with the Mi 9T.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T has recently been given the NBTC certification in Thailand and the NCC certification in Taiwan. There are rumours that the phone will be launched in Russia later this month. What we hear is that it could also reach Dubai along with its debut in Russia.
