WhatsApp for Android has just received a new beta version (2.18.179) that has started labelling all messages that a user forwards to other contacts. If you look closely, there is a ‘Forwarded’ label that will appear on all messages that are forwarded. This will directly help in a distinction between original messages/chats and forwarded messages.
This new label will be added to the forwarded message on both sides, i.e on the recipient’s and sender’s screen. This latest change has appeared days after a Media visibility feature that was launched in beta to let Android users hide or show the WhatsApp media content from the local phone storage gallery.
In order to see the new feature added of the ‘Forwarded’ label, you just need to select and forward any one of the messages available within another WhatsApp chat. The label will appear right on top of the forwarded message.
If you are wondering, there is no option as of now to disable the label and we presume as per our sources that WhatsApp Messenger will be working on this in the future update.
It is available through the Google Play beta program or in an APK file form via APK Mirror.
