As it was expected from them, HTC has started offering the Android Oreo OS for its U11 smartphone. VP of Product Management at HTC, Mo Versi, announced the Anroid Oreo 8.0 update for the phone on his Twitter handle. From today onwards all users using HTC’s coveted U11 would be able to enjoy the experience of Android’s latest offering on their smartphones. This update is however only available for all unlocked devices currently.
Based on the tweet by Mo Versi, HTC is looking towards getting the OS available to all Sprint users as well. The twitter thread that ensued after the revelation opened doors towards the possible launch of the OS on many other HTC sets as well in the future. The twitter threat hinted towards the release of the update for more HTC smartphones including the U Ultra, U11 Life and HTCH 10. The company had rolled out the update in Taiwan a while ago, so the news was expected by all HTC users.
Although the additional features that the Android Oreo update will bring to the HTC U11 are unclear, we do have a picture of what users will get by updating to the OS itself. Users who have already experienced Android’s Oreo up front have revealed many features that make the OS one of Android’s most anticipated update to-date. It is clear that users will experience popular updates like Picture-in-Picture mode, which gives users the luxury to open another app while simultaneously watching a video. Android Oreo is also set to bring access to a wide range of features including Notification Channels, Notification Dots, Autofill for passwords and Android Instant Apps.
Users of HTC U11 will also enjoy the generic ability of the Android Oreo OS to limit the background activity that is generated through the least used applications. This and other efficient features will also optimize the smartphone in a way that helps it in saving battery.
HTC had confirmed back in August that it will soon be rolling out the Android Oreo update for the HTC U11, U Ultra and the U10. The newly released U11 Life has also been added to this list of smartphones said to have the update out soon. The HTC U11 Life came with an Android 8.0 version out of the box for all global markets besides the US market. The smartphone was shipped with Android 7.1 in the US market, which left users anticipating the update for Android 8.0 Oreo. With anticipations running high, HTC does not plan to make users wait any longer as their smartphones are gradually receiving the Android 8.0 update one phone at a time.
