The Indian smartphone market has never been short of brands competing against each other to get the shares out of this gold mine. Coolpad, which is one of the developing entrants, has released a newer version of their Note 5 Lite budget smartphone. The Note 5 Lite C, which was launched during August of this year, had a storage size of 16 GB. With user expectations growing by the day, Coolpad felt that they could add a bit more on the storage front. Thus, they have come up with a 32 GB variant offering double the storage size for users to enjoy.
You couldn’t have been more wrong if you thought that the increased storage size would result in an increase in the price of the smartphone. The Coolpad Note 5 Lite with 32 GB storage size comes at exactly the same price as the previous version since it has been priced at a jaw dropping Rs. 8,199 or $126 by the manufacturers. The previous version of the phone has now benefited from a price reduction and is now available for a reduced Rs. 7,499.
Besides the increase in storage size, there seem to be no other changes or new additions in the new model. The earlier version of the Note 5 Lite came with a 5-inch LPS display that had an impressive resolution of 1280 * 720. The phone further houses the 64-bit MediaTek chipset under the hood and comes with four ARM CPU cores that can be clocked at 1.0 GHz. Just like the previous version, the brilliant processor for the phone is coupled with a 3 GB of Random Access Memory. Moreover, the 32 GB on-board storage can also be enhanced by adding 64 GB of external storage through microSD card.
The back panel of the phone comes with an array of features comprising of the 13 mp back camera, an impressive LED flash and a fingerprint sensor. The front facing camera is measured to be somewhere around 8 mp with a similar aperture to that of the rear facing camera. The device gets its power from a 2,500mAh non-removable battery that works well with all other features present.
Much to the user’s dismay, there seem to be not a lot of changes incorporated in the software. The global and the local variants that were launched earlier in the year and the new 32-GB variant, all run the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It remains to be seen whether Coolpad update their new device to the latest Android versions, but with speculations suggesting against it, the 32 GB variant will have to live with the Marshmallow version for all of its lifetime.
