Xiaomi’s rise to the top in India has been nothing short of brilliant. Realizing the potential in this market and by assessing how it has been able to fair well in it, Xiaomi has announced the starting of its third manufacturing facility in India. The facility that will be launched in Noida, Uttar Pradesh will boost Xiaomi’s endeavors to ‘Make in India’. The new manufacturing facility was announced on Tuesday, 21 November and will be opened in partnership with Hipad Technology.
The facility at Noida, Uttar Pradesh will specifically deal in the production and assembling of power banks. Representatives from the company also announced the launch of Mi Power Bank 2i that would be the first product assembled at the newly launched facility.
“Extending its commitment to the Make in India initiative, Mi Power Bank 2i will be assembled at Hipad Technology’s facility in Noida. Hipad Technology’s manufacturing unit is a dedicated Power Bank facility for Xiaomi and is spread across 2.3 lakh square feet. The starting production capacity for the facility is nearly 7 Power Banks per minute during its operational hours,”
Xiaomi, which is now one of the leading players in the Indian market, first entered India during the year 2014. Merely three years after coming in to the market, Xiaomi is now ranked number one according to data given by research firm IDC. The company previously had two smartphone manufacturing facilities located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The addition of a third manufacturing facility will boost the presence of Xiaomi in India, considering that already more than 95 per cent of all their smartphones being sold in India are assembled in local plants.

The mystery product the company had been talking about on their twitter is none other than a power bank being manufactured in India. The Mi Power Bank 2i is launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 799 for a 10,000 mAh version and Rs. 1,499 for the 20,000 mAh version.
