Never settlers rejoice. If you own a OnePlus 3 or a One Plus 3T, there’s some great news for you. OnePlus has decided upon and has started rolling out the Android Oreo 8.0 upgrade for both their OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T flagship smartphones from 2016. The company launched the OnePlus 5 and the upgraded OnePlus 5T recently as their 2017 flagship model smartphones. At the same event where this handset was launched, the company even confirmed the Android Oreo 8.0 beta testing timeline for the new phones. It’s a welcome addition and cause for joy that their older devices, the OnePlus 3 and 3T, are getting the Android Oreo 8.0 update as well.
You may have seen blogposts from OnePlus confirming the arrival and Rollout of the OxygenOS 5.0, which is going to be available for the company’s OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. It’s the first Android OS update for smartphones. Unfortunately, OnePlus even confirms that this Android Oreo 8.0 based update will be the last software update for the 2016 flagship phones (OnePlus 3 series) from the company. Enjoy it while it lasts.
The OxygenOS 5.0 comes embedded with features from the Android O (Oreo 8.0). It comes with an ability to run more than one app side by side, in the form of a split screen (just like windows 10 and 8.1 offer). Another welcomed feature of the Android Oreo update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T is the “Picture-in-Picture” mode that is part and parcel of the Android Oreo (8.0) update. It is accompanied by the Auto-fill, smart text selection feature. On top of that, there is an upgraded quick settings design and an update of the security patch for September from Google for better security of the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones.
The OnePlus Launcher for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, after the update to OxygenOS 5.0, will have an extra notification dot as well as a new and catchy design for a new app folder. In addition to this, the OxygenOS 5.0 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T has added the ability to upload photos from the camera roll directly to Shot on One Plus. The update is said to be “incremental” as OnePlus calls it, meaning that not all OnePlus 3 and 3T phones will be getting it immediately. The all-out-roll-out will start in a couple of days.
To see if you got the Android Oreo update for your OnePlus 3 or 3T with the OxygenOS 5.0, just go to:

If the OTA update is there, simply click on it to download and install it. Make sure to back your data first. Users facing any trouble after the update on their OnePlus 3 and 3T handsets can report bugs and give their feedback here.
