Amazon Kindle Lite Beta makes its way into Indian market. Here is all you need to know about the smartphone.

Amazon Kindle Lite Beta App available for Android Users in India

Just when you thought that the ongoing trend for releasing lite application versions for emerging markets was over, Amazon has recently launched the Kindle Lite Beta application in India.

The beta version of the new app is currently available for download on Play Store for Android devices and is targeted to provide a brilliant reading experience for smartphone with minimal hardware. Interestingly, the application has a size of 2 MB and is supposed to work even on a 2G connection.

For those who haven’t heard of Amazon Kindle in general and the lite version in specific, the prime purpose of the application is to let people enjoy a seamless reading experience within the comforts of their smartphone.

The lightweight and convenient version of the app lists all of your existing ebooks and helps you find the best ones. Similar to the original version of the Amazon Kindle, the lite version also has a Whispersync for Books that is dedicated to help you start from where you left the last time around.

The app also comes along with a data and storage section that gives you the luxury to monitor your storage usage. You can free up some space by deleting or removing pages that were cached offline.

Amazon is excited on the launch of their latest app in India and is expecting to reap good user anticipation and feedback on the beta version. “We are continuously inventing on behalf of our customers and are excited to offer them more choices on how to read. Kindle Lite is currently in early access for customers and available only to a limited audience in India on the Google Play Store. It’s only 2 MB in size, built for a great reading experience on 2G/3G networks and for Android smartphones with limited memory,” said a spokesperson from Android.

Amazon has anticipated the need for local customization in the Indian market and has added a catalogue of ebooks in local languages.

The local languages covered in the Indian release are, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and Marathi. You can choose a title of your liking and can pay for it through Amazon pay, netbanking and debit or credit cards.

To be frank, the interface for the Amazon Kindle Lite Beta has been kept simplistic and easy to go through for all sorts of readers.

You can also go down to see recommendations from authors you have been showing interest in.

All in all, the application is a must for all bookworms and is too good to not download.
