Gmail for Android gets an update with save to Drive and more

Approximately last week, Gmail was announced as the first Android app on the Google Play Store to cross one billion downloads. They have kept their flag high by bumping up the app to version 4.8 that brings in neat features where a Gmail user can save attachments to Google Drive, side navigation has been improved and explanations for spam.

The files saved to Drive via Gmail for Android can be accessed from any Android device. Keep a close watch on the top of every spam message, Google will briefly explain why the message was transferred to the spam inbox.

An added advantage for all those users who read languages from right to left like Persian or Arabic, Google has changed the position of the profile picture and navigation menu so that it becomes easier to use the app.  Gmail officially states in a Google+ post that, “If you are an English speaker, you are used to reading sentences from left-to-right. On the other hand, there are multiple languages out there that are written from right-to-left which include Arabic, Hebrew and Persian.”

We would like to hear about your views on the version 4.8 of Gmail for Android. In case you have not come across any of these features on the app, try updating. Otherwise, you need to not worry as Google will begin rolling out the update in the next few days.
