There are a huge variety of reasons why smart-watches may not work in the global market. Today’s smartphones are reaching the maturity of product life-cycle and coming into their own. In terms of cameras, the smartphones are actually competing with standalone cameras and not failing at all. The smartphones apps are changing people’s lives in terms of how productive they as a society have become and how they track their movements and how they socialize online. It has all changed with the introduction of smartphones.
Whereas, numerous smartphone and tablet users across the globe feel that smart-watches are not worth investing in due to many reasons. Comparing the Samsung Galaxy Gear to the iPhone 5S hows the real lack of quality features across the board.
Tn terms of buyers and users, developing smart-watches is quite tough but the makers often forget about one major target audience which is women who will not buy a smart-watch. Why is this ?
Women feel that they are simply ugly, too clunky and not a trendy enough fashion accessory to justify the price point. Traditionally far more women than men wear a watch which is not just to tell time, but as an adornment. Numerous women see watches related as fashion and jewellery. At the same time, wrist size varies with due consideration to eyesight. The screens in most smart-watches are tiny and cannot be looked on a good distance.
Keeping in mind that we are in a world where people are always connected, talking to your wrist out loud might seem logical but will it look crazy at the same time ?
A lot of people find it hard to talk to hands-free-kits in the car. Do you honestly think that smart-watches will be the gadget to normalize what is perceived by many to be talking to oneself? We hope so that there is a change in the way the design of smartphones is carried out or there will either be no sale or no development of smart-watches in the future.
Even then, there are numerous early adopters out there. Only time will tell how successful smart-watches will be in the years to come.
