Quechua globally known for selling mountain sports gear and equipment has partnered with Archos to build an Android smartphone designed to face the exterior elements. The 5-inch Android smartphone combines the ruggedness and durability that comes from Quechua’s sports brand along with Archos’ smartphone expertise over the years.
The Quechua’s rugged 5-inch Android-powered smartphone has not yet officially been given a name but will soon have one and the device will probably be powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with a 1.2 GHZ Qualcomm Quad-Core Processor and a 3500mAh battery as per source. The device is designed with an active lifestyle in mind and is resistant to shock, mud, water, cold, sand and snow. It may not be the sleekest or most attractive smartphone in the market however it will likely appeal to the sporting community and is priced somewhere around $313 even though there is no official word out about it’s availability.
Apart from having rugged traits such as IP54 certification the device houses 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card and a 5-megapixel primary camera to top off the media angle.
