Samsung’s next generation flagship the Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have been catching the heat lately and we recently saw the emergence of a new rumor that Samsung’s next flagship device will feature a state of the art Iris Scanner. This rumor has just been supported by an official Samsung patent.
Samsung recently filed a patent for the authentication process using an iris scanner to compete with the fingerprint scanners being used of its rival devices, the iPhone 5S and the HTC One Max. An iris scanner is considered to be a very expensive piece of hardware but we are sure that if Samsung is willing to implement this technology in the Samsung Galaxy S5 they will find some or the other way to keep costs down while still keeping up with the effectiveness of the scanner.
The patent shows a prototype smartphone with all the necessary iris scanning technology included – a camera, proximity sensor, light emitting and a power supply unit. A proximity sensor will sense when the user gets near the phone whilst the iris sensing unit scans the eye and checks if matches the image initially stored.
The definite King of Androids can be the Samsung Galaxy S5 is also rumored to include a WQHD 2560 x 1440p display and a 64 bit Exynos 6 Octa CPU.
