FCC Speed Test debuts on Google Play Store

FCC Speed Test

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is hoping that the public can help figure this out using a new Android app which was supposed to preview this week and it is live on the Google Play Store.

For those of you who have heard about the FCC Speed Test we are pleased to say that the Android app has already appeared on the Google Play Store. The FCC Speed Test accesses real-time performance data on your Android device and the historical results are available at just the touch of a screen. Tests run automatically and manual tests such as Download Speed, Latency, Upload Speed and even Packet Loss can be manually checked too. There are additional passive metrics collected over time such as Cell ID, Signal Strength and even the GPS location. Keep in mind that your disable the Wi-Fi on your Android device before testing cellular broadband speeds. The best part is that this is an official app to help FCC’s Measuring Broadband America program and is free of advertisements.
