KitKat brings lots of amazing new features on Android. One such feature which Google has been working for quite some time now is the NFC feature. It is a feature that has been an integral part of Android since Jelly Bean but with KitKat Android takes to an all new level.
As official reports from Google suggest, NFC payment functionality is now extended to devices without NFC Secure Elements. Android 4.4 KitKat introduces support for Host Card Emaluation, whereby standard NFC hardware can emulate ISO/IEC 7816-based smart cards that use the contact-less ISO/IEC 14443-4 (ISO-DEP) protocol for transmission. This then makes any device with NFC hardware capable of using the tap-to-pay functionality. Now NFC will work on any device belonging to any carrier. Now, all apps including one’s from Google can use NFC to manage payment information on the device. Stay tuned for more KiKat news and updates in the future.
