
BBM has experienced an astounding popularity ever since BlackBerry made the app available for Android devices and the first day saw downloads above 10 million and is increasing as the days have passed.
Even though the BBM for Android app will always be free Andrew Bocking (Executive Vice President of BBM for BlackBerry) has appeared on CBC’s The Morning Edition and declared that – We have other ideas on how to monetize that service. Bocking also hinted at BBM Channels which is BlackBerry’s new social engagement platform within BBM which is going to have new features such as BBM Voice and Video calling very soon.
Inclusive is that when BlackBerry announced the 10 million download milestone they committed to bring BBM Voice and Video calling to Android in the near future and according to Andrew Bocking these features will arrive within months.
