Google Glass rumors have been heard for a long time now and even the prices and specifications were revealed in time. Provided here is a complete tear-down of Google’s Augmented Reality Product called the Google Glass which is picked up from a trusted source.
Seeing the Google Glass in the future , the internals look simple but the code and minds put into the making truly pays-off. There is a standard TI OMAP4430 SoC, 16GB of Flash , DRAM and a 570 mAh lithium-polymer battery. Battery back-up won’t be that efficient but not much can be expected because of the size and technicals packed into the frame.
About the display which is just a few millimeters across but packs in a resolution of 640×360 is the most exciting hardware component revealed in the tear-down. Modern gadgets are fixed up using some kind of tight glue but Google Glass only requires a Torx screwdriver and some delicate spudger work. The Google Glass was assembled back properly without having any damage during the tear-down.
Basically , the Google Glass is divided into three distinct regions which is the behind-the-ear battery, the main computer in the middle, and the display assembly at the front. The OMAP4430 is a fairly standard, Circa-2011 Dual-Cortex-A9 SoC based on the 45nm process. By the looks of it , there is not much to speak about , but the internals will freak out gadget oriented people. In case you plan for a tear-down do take immense care while unscrewing the product. The DRAM chip is well placed inside the frame and is placed with immense care.
Rounding up the Google Glass , there is a nine-axis InvenSense MPU-9150 Inertial Sensor, a controller for the Synaptics touchpad, a fairly mundane 5MP Camera.
