
Programmers fixated on the thorny problem of Android fragmentation had reason to pay attention to Google statistics that this week showed the latest version of Android. It introduced Android 4.0 in late 2011 then refined it with Android 4.1 and 4.2 starting in May 2012 last year. Google issues OS updates for Nexus-branded devices relatively swiftly, but there’s not much of a guarantee of longevity. The Nexus One arrived in early 2010 and is stuck at Android 2.3 and it was a real good device to depend on.
