Huawei Shipping More Honor Phones to India Amidst Growth
Huawei has been unrelenting in releasing new smartphones and the cycle is showing no signs of taking a breather. Earlier, in 2017, the Huawei Honor, which is a sub-brand of Huawei itself, unveiled the Honor 6X among some of its other high end devices. The latest unveiling by Huawei is the Huawei Honor 7X, which recently occurred in China.
Huawei officially announced the Huawei Honor V10, one of its new flagship smartphones, only this Tuesday. With this pace, its efforts are gaining the ultimate reward of growing recognition as well as sales. You heard it right. The Huawei Honor sub-brand shipments to India have since doubled on a yearly basis. It also has plans to increase manufacturing operations and efforts of Huawei Honor smartphones in India. This is a clear indication that Huawei wants a piece of the profitable pie in the Indian market. It only seems like yesterday that Huawei partnered with Flex to manufacture Huawei Honor phones first week of October, 2016.
The Flex manufacturing plant in Chennai is responsible for making Huawei Honor phones. The plant was predicted to have a capacity of making 3 million units by the end of this year. It was part of the “Make in India” initiative that Huawei Honor has taken a keen interest and significant part in.
When Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated the facility in Chennai for Huawei Honor smartphone manufacture, he showed much praise for the companies actively participating in the make in India initiative. He even invited more tech companies to set up manufacturing facilities in India, stating that they wanted to transform India in to an electronics manufacturing hub. He was looking to boost the local manufacturing industry in India. Needless to say that this initiative was a success.
Coming back to Huawei and Huawei Honor, the Consumer Business Group VP P. Sanjeev said in a recent interview that India is a key market for Huawei [and Huawei Honor]. He also pointed out that Huawei is trying continually to bridge the gap between global and local (Indian) Huawei launches in the future. This is an indication that the Huawei and Huawei Honor launches will happen at the same time in the overseas and local Indian market, looking forward.
Huawei Honor smartphones are highly competitive so this is not surprising. The Huawei Honor V10 has a 6 inch, Full-HD+ display (2160 x 1440) and the Kirin 970 SoC (Huawei’s own), Android 8.0 Oreo, a dual camera setup of 16 and 20 megapixels as well as a mid-high tier 3,750mAh battery. The release date internationally is December 5th for the Huawei Honor V10.
If both Huawei Honor V10 and 7X have the same price range (upper-mid-tier), then they could potentially give a tough time to flagship giants such as the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and OnePlus 5T.
