Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Xiaomi Mi 5 – Who does it better?
The new Samsung Galaxy S7 is out with a bang and what a great launch it has had. It came and conquered the market with some really cool features and it looks like it is all set to become the best smartphone of the year. While I completely agree that Galaxy S7 deserves the accolade, I still wanted to compare it with another one of my favourite smartphones of this year the Xiaomi 5. I am done with all the work So hold on because I give you a very honest comparison between Samsung Galaxy S7 and Xiaomi 5 comparison.
Design and Build Quality
As you all know that I have already done a rather deep review of Samsung Galaxy S7 and no one can deny the fact (least of all me as I have one) that the new creation from Samsung is a work of art, all thanks to its sleek metallic finish and chic aluminium sides. The curves are all in the right places and the phone is itself easy to hold. Now a lot of you were worried that the annoying camera bump that was one of the let down in Galaxy S6 will return with Galaxy S7, I am happy to report that it does not. Final word – all the fans of S6 will be delighted with this new addition to the family and will love the improvements made by the company.
Now let us talk about Xiaomi Mi 5 which made its first appearance at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. What impressed me the most about this smartphone was the fact that for a low priced handset it still managed to pack in plenty of features. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is a tough predecessor because when it came to features and performance it actually knocked it out of the park, making the job of toppling Mi4 much tougher for Mi5. However, the new Xiaomi Mi5 looks good, with a very sleek metal frame with chic glass panels on the front and the back with almost bezel less display. Now the set has a finger print sensor that lives inside the home button on the front of the device. Moreover, Xiaomi Mi5 camera sensor and the LED flash sit at the top-left corner of the device making it far less distracting than S7.
My first impression of Galaxy S7 in the hands-on session was that it has the brightest display in the Android world. Featuring a 5.1 inch QHD display with a resolution of 2,560 x1,440 pixels this handset provides a great user experience. ‘
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a 5.15 inch screen in full HD. According to reliable sources, it is also an impressive 14 g lighter than iPhone 6s. The device gives a great edge to edge look as the screen bezel is very slight.
Processor and storage
Everyone knows that Galaxy S7 offers user a 4GB RAM that is powered by a Snapdragon 820. This also means that as a user you get delightfully smooth experience while you glide over the menu. He microSD is back and the new Galaxy S7 models offer 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage. The best and the most expensive version come with 4 GB of RAM with a whopping 128 GB internal storage. The mid level version offers 3 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage and the entry level will provide 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
The Galaxy S7 is a delight for photo fanatics as it comes with some great camera technology. With an impressive 12 MP back camera the device does an exceptional job of taking pictures. The front shooter is a 5 MP offering and it comes all equipped with wide angle selfie performance and uses an f/1.7 lens.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a 4 MP front shooting camera while the rear facing shooter is an impressive 16 MP. The camera is build with an OIS technology that has a 4-axis component which is best for shooting in low light and capturing fast-moving objects in the blink of an eye.
I created a detailed specs table for you people to give you a clearer picture of both Samsung’s new Galaxy S7 and the incoming Xiaomi Mi 5.

I am a big Android fan and I make no bones about it. This is why I am very happy whenever I meet an Apple-to-Android convert.
