Xiaomi allowed to sell phones till 8 January 2015 in India
There were reports a few days back that Xiaomi was banned from selling, importing and marketing their smartphones in India via Flipkart due to an injunction from Ericsson which claimed that Xiaomi infringed upon their patents.
As of now, the Delhi High Court has granted Xiaomi the permission to import and sell their smartphones till 8th January 2015 in India. The Court has also stated that Xiaomi has the permission only to sell devices running on Qualcomm processors which directly includes the Mi 3, Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note 4G. The Mi3 and the Redmi 1S are no longer being sold in India even before the ban. The Redmi Note that the company was selling before the ban cannot be sold since it runs on a MediaTek processor. The only option for Xiaomi is to launch the Redmi Note 4G quickly before 8th January 2015 or resume the sales of the Mi3 or the Redmi 1S. Everyone is wondering what is going to happen to Xiaomi after the date. We will definitely keep you posted.
Apart from all the High Court news, many people are happy because they feel that Flipkart is cheating them in the whole purchasing process of Xiaomi smartphones. We would like to say that Flipkart is not cheating anyone, purchasing a Xiaomi smartphone all depends on your timing, speed and lastly luck.
