Summary of the WeekIt was an not so eventful week this time. Even then there is a lot of news that we tech readers should be aware of. The previous week Nokia decided to discontinue their Chennai plant. It did not come as a big surprise as there was a absence of orders from the newly operating parent firm i.e Microsoft. While Xiaomi has recently crossed a milestone of being the third largest mobile seller in the world, the first two spots are held by Apple and Samsung. There is not much going on about Android in India at the monet but we visited Malaysia and saw that the technology market (smartphones and tablets) is really advanced compared to India in every way. There are Indians who walk around to sell gadgets that are precisely expensive for us Indians because of the exchange rate. Android has been pretty disappointing since Google has been delaying updates to many Android smartphones and tablets for a long time according to the device update list.

Although Samsung has accepted that they made many small mistakes in issues regarding Quality and Consumer Satisfaction and has let the top spot slip from their hands. The company has promised to alter the faults and come back with better devices. Samsung has also launched two mid ranged devices especially for the Chinese market so as to gain popularity which is currently ruled by Xiaomi. The interesting fact is that both devices are equipped with a metal body to impress the critics who say Samsung’s plastic body isn’t top notch.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new 9.2 inch tablet which is supposed to be low budget tab. Microsoft has launched a fitness wearable compatible with all top end Lumia, Apple and Android devices. It marks the entry of the world’s largest software company,Microsoft in the wearable section. In other news the Founder of the website “PirateBay” has been sentenced three years for hacking into a private firm’s documents stored online.
