Micromax unveils Yu brand powered by CyanogenMod
Today in India, a new smartphone brand has been unveiled by Micromax. The Yu devices will be offered online only which will be emulating Xiaomi’s business model. After all, after Micromax has seen how Xiaomi competed with existing brands they plan to follow them.
No doubt the Yu smarphones will be running Android, but their software will come from Cyanogen, Inc. as per source. Cyanogen, Inc is the company behind the pre-installed ROM for the OnePlus One. This would be surely used as a plus point for Micromax to start of with the Yu brand of Android smartphones. Cyanogen has been clear that they would like to partner with more smartphone manufacturers from now on and this could be the initial stage of their strategy.
Opening up the chocolate box, the first Yu handset would be going to be made official sometime in December 2014. Micromax boasts that it will honor the warranty for Yu phones even if they are rooted. Smart watches and smart bands are something else that would be worked on in the future. We presume that Micromax would be working hard with the Yu brand of smartphones even though most of their device lack quality, design and durability. The year 2015 will be fruitful for Micromax if they go according to what they have stated today and all Micromax fans would be truly satisfied with the brand.
