Google Play Store 5.0.31Google has started pushing out the Google Play Store 5.0.31 update according to Android Police. The Google Play Store 5.0.31 update is more of a material design with a lot of highlights here and there. First thing you will notice once the Play Store is updated, is the icon which has a grayish color rather than the usual white color. Google has taken a good step forward to enhance the logo over time.

We would like to warn you that Android L developer preview users are facing issues with the current Play Store update and if you are one, then refrain from downloading and using this on the Android L device. Google will suss out the issue within no time and we will be back with an update. Technically, the new logo look resembles the flat design style found in many of Google Material Design Guidelines. Kirill Grouchnikov (User Interface Engineer at Google) posted a history of the Play Store icon history with evolution as can be seen below starting at the very beginning when it was originally called the Android Market.

Google Play Store Logo History

People from different walks of life like to experience what the Play Store has to offer and that is the reason Google makes it a point to update their apps from time to time. In case you might have not noticed, the What’s New section is now highlighted green and it is still truncated after 4 lines on the main app screen for installed apps, thereupon clicking on it, a user will not have to scroll all the way down which made no sense in the previous update. There were suggestions about offering something of the above sort for users and people will be happy that someone at Google listened. Have a look through the screenshots provided all the changes that we have made a note of.

The Notifications Panel is something worth looking at now as when you update or updates are awaiting there is a different kind of logo that is displayed. It is more appealing and clean all the way through the download and install.

The Google Play Store 5.0.31 (Current Latest Update) is the largest compared to all the other updates which is fine. As can be seen the first update was 5.89MB and increased from update to update very little in size. The size jump from 4.9.13 to 5.0.31 is something to make note of.

The Google Play Store 5.0.31 APK is signed by Google and updates your existing Play Store app. The crypto-graphic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install. Also there is guarantee that the file was not tampered in any way. Instead of waiting for Google to push this download to your device which usually takes 5-10 days, head over below, download and install it just like any other APK.
