Sony has launched a device called the Xperia M long time ago and it was one device which was really affordable and had good features taking into consideration the technology at that time. After a while, the company launched the Xperia M2 which was a better version of the Xperia M. Recently, Sony has officially launched the water and dust resistant version of the Xperia M2 called the “Xperia M2 Aqua”. Beaming with pride, the company has announced that this will be the world’s best in phone in terms of water resistance. Sony Xperia M2 Aqua

According to source, the Xperia M2 Aqua is supposed to be IP65/68 waterproof. According to IP65 and IP68 certifications which the device has gone through, the device is protected against the entry of both water and dust. Now as per Sony, the phone is protected against low pressure jets of water from all possible directions inclined to the IP65 and can be kept under 1 metre of water for around 30 minutes if all the ports and covers are firmly closed. Sony also states that this phone will definitely not float on water or withstand any conditions other than what is specified as per IP65/68. The HTC One M8 would be a good competitor to the Xperia M2 Aqua with respect to the water resistance.

There are many other devices which have got the IP68 certificate, but this is the first phone to have officially passed both the standard tests. The Xperia M2 Aqua is going to have identical internal and external features like the M2. The Xperia M2 Aqua will be sporting a 4.8-inch TFT display screen with a resolution of 540×960 pixels and heavily powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor which will be backed with 1GB of RAM and a Adreno 305 GPU. Sony should have decked the Aqua will more RAM so that gaming could get more lively and fast. Apart from the 8MP primary camera and the 1.1MP secondary camera, the device has 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card if needed.

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua comes out-of-the-box with the latest version Android KitKat (4.4). This new model houses a 2330mAh battery with a claimed standby time of up to 641 hours and talk time of up to 12 hours and 11 minutes on 3G. On the connectivity front, there is NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE, 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi.

Sony is pretty sure that this model will be one of the main reason behind them making a good comeback in this market. On an overall basis, this phone has an excellent build quality, good aesthetics,  water and dust proof. Although the hardware of this phone seems to be a bit on the lower end as compared to what other competitors are providing, it still functions smoothly and you will have no problem with respect to the phone work speed as well as lagging. If you are a hardcore on-the-move mobile gamer, then this device would not fit your needs and I would advise you to go for a device with better processing speed, RAM and a more powerful GPU.  There are some Sony fans and users who are waiting to see the Xperia C3 which will revealed at the IFA this year and some are waiting to hear about the price of the Xperia M2 Aqua which is not yet revealed.
