Samsung Galaxy S5

There are numerous dedicated hackers, developers and even modders who will appreciate being able to root their brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 but the procedure below may not be a standard practice for many device owners.

Samsung hacker called Chainfire who is very well known has developed a tool called Auto-root exclusively for the Samsung Galaxy S5 ( Canadian model : SM-G900W8 ) that takes advantage of the device’s unlocked boot-loader to push the relevant root files that facilitates access for other apps.

Users will have to use Odin which is known very well as Samsung’s Windows-only proprietary binary flashing software to perform Auto-root, but once it’s completed you should not have to touch it again. In case you would like to try something different, there is an open-source alternative called Heimdall that works with Linux and OS X, but it does not appear to be tested with the latest Galaxy devices.

Auto-root does not alter much of the device but it does trip the KNOX warranty flag which is built-in that could prevent the device from being serviced. In case you think about rooting the Samsung Galaxy S5 and succeed, do let us know your experience.
