Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

But if you’re looking to explore more of its beast mode and root it, well we will not ask you to step back. Rooting your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will give you full developers control over your device and even allows you to run custom ROMs. In this article you will find a step by step guide on How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Before we start, let’s take a look at some cons of rooting your Android device.

Cons:

1. Voids warranty : Rooting your Android device voids its company warranty.

2. Chances of Bricking:  One wrong step in rooting can put end to your device’s life.

3. Security risks:  As rooting gives you full access to your device, this could be an advantage for some untrusted apps you download and install. To fight this, you must have  a antivirus on your rooted phone.

Note: This guide is for the Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean ONLY – Please do not use this if your hardware does not match with the above.

Pre-requisites :

1. Backup your Android device data.

2. Enable USB Debugging on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Go to “Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging” and Enable it.

3. A USB Cable to connect your Android device to your computer.

4. Make sure your phone battery is minimum 50% charged.

Let’s root it. Follow the below simple steps:

1. First step is to download “Odin” , a tool to root Android devices. You can download it on your computer from here: Odin

2. Next step is to download ChainFire’s “Auto Root” on your computer. Download it from the URL here: Auto Root

3. Now extract the “Odin” zip file to a new folder on your computer desktop. Name the folder “odin”.

4. Now extract the “Auto Root” zip file on your computer desktop.

5. Switch off your Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

6. Wait for a while and then press and hold Power key, Volume Down and Home key simulteanously. This should boot your device into boot menu. Press “Volume Up” to get it into Download Mode.

7. Run “odin.exe” file from the Odin folder.

8. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to your computer using a USB Cable. Wait for a few seconds while Odin detects your phone.

9. Once you can see your device has been detected by Odin, Click on the “PDA” in Odin button and navigate to “CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5.”.

10. Uncheck the “re-partition”.

11. Click on “Start”. This should start rooting your Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

12. Wait for a while and you should see process completed with the “Pass” message appearing on your Phone.

Do not touch or unplug your device as it might reboot several times during the process.

That’s all ! You have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
