Mobile OS stats for 2013 released by StatCounter

StatCounter has released the mobile operating systems stats for 2013 which commences in the chart as per December 2012 to December 2013. The stats chart includes Android, iOS, Nokia’s Series 40, Sybmian, Samsung, BlackBerry and Windows Phone operating systems. The unknown and other operating systems are also detailed in the global stat chart.

Android being the most talked about and the most purchased stands at the top by starting at 33.19% and went up to 42.99% in this period which shows a pure growth rate of 9.8%. Android is followed by iOS, which is not really doing well as they have gone down from 23.26% to 21.82%. The Series 40 by Nokia fell from 14.86% to 13.02% stands at the third position.

Bagging the fourth position is Symbian which also witnessed a huge drop from 10.72% to 4.95% and is followed by Samsung’s OS at the fifth position with a down to 4.54% from 6.57%BlackBerry OS stands at the seventh position being the only operating system after Android to have witnessed some profitable growth in 2013.

The lords of operating system in 2013 could be regarded as Android by Google and it will now be very thrilling to see how the market grows this year with newbies like Tizen, Firefox and Ubuntu in the house.   1. Do you know what does the Samsung OS entail? It seems to be separate from bada, Tizen, Android. Would these be “dumb” phones with basic internet connectivity?

      The Samsung OS devices are truly good handsets with good connectivity features. We would not call them dumb as they have numerous features that facilitate to the needs of users across the globe. Samsung is using the Android OS to power their devices.
