Twitter invites Android users to test ‘Alpha’ experiment

Twitter Sketch

In the Twitterverse, alpha is the new beta. The newly public company will release less than half-baked version of its Android application to testers who want to test out trial features before they are bug-free and ready for mainstream consumption.

Known as the “Android Alpha Program” Twitter will give an invite only to list of members “earlier iterations of experiments” and access to a special forum to share their feedback and bug reports. The above has been written in a note to testers obtained by TechCrunch by the Twitter for Android team.  This program compliments an Android beta-testing initiative Twitter kicked off earlier this year. The Alpha participants/testers should be ready for a huge number of bugs as this version is a pre-prerelease build of the Twitter app for Android.

Twitter did not give any comments on the same but they will likely use the program to explore ways to make its mobile app more welcoming to newcomers and more appealing to the users. At the moment Twitter shares are trading on the public market so the seven year-old company will be under intense scrutiny to grow its user base at a rapid speed so that it can someday actually turn a profit from their attention. Let’s hope for the best in this aspect.
