Moto G has been officially announced
Motorola officially announced the Moto G at a special event today and the device is a mid-range Android smartphone which is designed to bring the Moto X user experience to a lower price point. It is built around a 4.5″ 720p edge-to-edge display that is covered in Gorilla Glass 3 for extra protection against drops and scratches. Motorola has even wrapped the insides of the Moto G with a water-resistant nano-coating that looks fantastic.
Speaking about under the hood, the Motorola Moto G houses a Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 Quad-Core processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The sad part is that it does not run the latest Android 4.4 KitKat version like the LG Nexus 5 but is powered by the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Motorola has stated that the Moto G will get the Android 4.4 KitKat in January 2014. The Moto G has a 5MP Primary Camera with support of an LED Flash and a 1.3MP Secondary Camera. The Moto G has an internal storage of 8GB /16GB with no microSD card expansion option. Below the curved back cover of the device lies a powerful 1,950mAh Li-Ion battery.
The Motorola Moto G has an attractive price tag of $179 for the 8GB version while the 16GB variant costs $199. Today the Moto G launches in Brazil and certain parts of Europe and will also be available in a Dual-SIM variant very soon. Motorola plans to launch the Moto G in a total of thirty countries worldwide which will include the U.S and on 60 different carriers by the beginning of 2014.
