Opera bets big on Android growth
Browsers are serving as a window to the vast cyber-world. With more people accessing online content on the move there is an intense battle to scale up web experience on the mobile systems. Besides default browsers like Internet Explorer for Windows and Chrome for Android there are alternatives such as the popular Firefox or even Opera.
Early this year, Opera brought out Opera for Android which is a separate, redesigned version of Opera Mini and proves as an attempt to give the user a peek into his or her social and news world right from the browser start page. Displaying besides the Speed Dial , a ‘Home’ tab which displays the latest news and updates from your social accounts such as Facebook or Twitter. Another cool feature is the ‘Off-Road’ mode that compresses data and makes for faster web access on bad connections or while on the move. Opera Mini users on Android increased by 62% which constitutes 12% of the total number of Mini users as per source.
